“Alamat” means “legend” in Filipino. It can also mean “myth.” American historian and author, James Gilbert postulates that collective memory is a myth by another name. I alter books as a commentary on narratives that have historically been excluded. My inspiration for Alamat is Tandang Sora, the only known woman involved in the Philippine Revolution.
